Budget Tips in the Kitchen

- Plan all meals in advance for a week/month by making a chart for daily meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.

- Plan the grocery list according to your meal’s plan and shop what is on your list only (with the exception of something needed in the house that is on sale).

- Keep your shopping list and make notes of how long your required items lasted. Next time, shop for the right amount.

- Stock up on sale goods for non-perishable buys on items you usually get.

- If possible, shop for the non-perishables at warehouses in bulk and shop more regularly for fresh fruit and vegetables to avoid goods getting spoilt.

- Compare the costs of items by their cost-per-weight figures. You will be surprised at some of these differences!

- Eat before you go shopping. Tests have shown hungry people buy unnecessary goods.

- Do dishes once a day instead of 10 small amounts that you need water and soap for every time.

- Use natural products to clean such as vinegar as it’s cheaper and healthier to live with.

- Get a flask for boiled water and cancel out many kettles.
